    Save It Forward with CARE

For the past 2-3 years CARE has partnered with the MUST Ministries' Save It Forward program. With the expansion of the pantry for our students, CARE is now able to expand this program as well.

Any KSU Student, Faculty, and/or Staff can be apart of this program as long as they have a child(ren) under 18 enrolled in a Marietta or Cobb County School District school. Once enrolled the families receive a stock of food once a month. For KSU students, this allotment of food is in addition to what students are allowed to receive from the campus pantry. Email to apply.

GEAR UP Georgia Grant - Priority Model

High school students who are homeless and/or in foster care are learning what it takes to attend college along with peeks into the collge experience, courtesy of the Priority Model within the GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Potential) Georgia Grant. The Priority Model is a part of the larger GEAR UP Georgia Grant (Cohort and Priority) that serves approximately 12,000 students across the state.
  • SwapShop

Students moving out in July participate in a “swap shop” in which they bring items that they no longer want (i.e. clothes, appliances, books, and hygiene products) to a common space. Interested students can take anything left behind by others. As a result of the Swap Shop, CARE keeps reusable items out of the landfill and donates goods to students and others in need.

    Homelessness Awareness Week

HAW is a week-long series of events dedicated to increasing awareness of homelessness on college campuses as well as reducing stigma to students facing homelessness. Each year, students who participate are surprised to find out that their fellow students struggle with homelessness, and often are surprised by the numbers of students that are affected at KSU. Some events are donation drives or fundraisers, and some are simulations or informational sessions targeted at awareness and stigma reduction. The week culminates with the Cobb County Candlelight Vigil honoring homeless community members who passed away in the last year, and a sleep-out for students to experience first-hand what it is like to be a homeless college student.
